Title: Development of a Brain Computer Interface for Promoting the use of the Computer in Physically Challenged Individuals
Date Posted: 06:24pm - Jun 4
This research suggests the use of a Brain Computer Interface approach to aid physically challenged people use the computer.
Physically challenged users are unable to reap the benefits of the computer due to the fact that the machine was designed with only able bodied individuals in mind. The keyboard and mouse however are insufficient input devices for some disabled individuals to utilise due to the severity of their condition. Due to this unfortunate fact, most of these individuals are unable to contribute to the work force of the country and are consider liabilities.
This computer research project will attempt to solve the aforementioned problem by the development of a Brain Computer Interface to enable the challenged individual to interact with the computer and perform basic data processing functions such as data entry (typing).
To do this a computer software program will be designed to use a non-invasive BCI approach to collect data from brain functions of the individual and convert the signals to commands to be used by the computer system to perform typing.
Some features of the proposed system are:-
